Moles are completely normal, but some changes may require closer assessment. At CPH Privathospital you will be examined by experienced dermatologists who have extensive expertise in identifying changes early. We take the time to review your moles thoroughly.

A mole check may be relevant for you:
  • Who simply wish to have one or more moles checked
  • Who have one or more moles that have changed
  • Who have moles that do not feel right in the skin
  • Who cannot monitor one or more moles yourself
  • Who have had melanoma previously and wish help with monitoring 
  • Who have a family member who has had melanoma

How the examination and removal of moles is performed

You will be examined systematically from head to toe and the dermatologist uses a dermatoscope to assess the patterns in your moles and the general skin structure that cannot be seen with the naked eye. It is a gentle and painless method that makes it possible to detect early changes.

If a mole is suspicious for malignant changes or there is a need for further clarification or there is simply a wish to remove the mole, it is first assessed during the examination whether it can be removed by a dermatologist or whether removal by a surgical specialist is required. This depends, among other things, on the type, size and location of the mole.

We do not offer laser removal of moles. 

When you should be examined

You should have your moles checked if you notice that one or more moles are changing due to:

  • Asymmetry
  • Irregular border
  • Colour(s)
  • Bleeding, sores or itching
  • Growing in size
  • That it feels “wrong” 

It is always better to be examined once too often than too little – and you do not need to be certain that something is wrong in order to book an appointment.
